AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform - AP

The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform is a newer AUTOSAR platform that is designed to support the development of more complex and safety-critical automotive software. It is based on a service-oriented architecture and uses a publish-subscribe communication paradigm.

The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform provides a number of features that are not available in the AUTOSAR Classic Platform, such as:

  • Support for real-time operating systems: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform supports a wider range of real-time operating systems than the AUTOSAR Classic Platform.
  • Support for virtualization: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform supports virtualization, which allows multiple operating systems to run on the same hardware platform.
  • Support for cloud computing: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform supports cloud computing, which allows automotive software to be developed and deployed in the cloud.
  • Support for safety-critical applications: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform provides a number of features that are designed to improve the safety of safety-critical applications, such as fault tolerance and redundancy.
  • SOA: The AP is based on a SOA, which allows for loosely coupled components that can be easily reused and updated.
  • Publish-subscribe: The AP uses a publish-subscribe communication paradigm, which allows components to communicate with each other without having to know about each other in advance.
  • Safety: The AP supports a number of safety features, such as fault tolerance and redundancy.
  • Scalability: The AP is designed to be scalable, so that it can be used to develop software for a wide range of vehicles.
  • Support for object-oriented programming: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform supports object-oriented programming, which allows developers to create more complex and reusable software components.
  • Support for virtualization: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform supports virtualization, which allows developers to create virtualized environments that can be used to test and debug software.
  • Support for AUTOSAR Security Extension: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform supports AUTOSAR Security Extension, which provides a set of security features for automotive software.
  • Support for AUTOSAR High Performance Computing Extension: The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform supports AUTOSAR High Performance Computing Extension, which provides a set of features for developing automotive software that can run on high-performance computing platforms.
The AP is a valuable tool for the development of complex and safety-critical automotive software. It can help to reduce the time, cost, and complexity of development, and it can also help to improve the quality and safety of the software. The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform is used by a smaller number of automotive manufacturers than the AUTOSAR Classic Platform.

The AUTOSAR Adaptive Platform is still under development, but it is growing in popularity as a platform for developing safety-critical automotive software.
